Tenth Transformation [video]

[The video feed turns on to show Envy's face; for once, he's contacting the network on purpose. In the background, one might hear the sounds of a minor wild pokemon battle. Clearly not too important, since Envy doesn't look like he's paying much attention to it.]

Hey, I've been wondering. Does anyone else have a pokemon that's taken a weirdly long time to evolve, or--

[Envy's question is cut off by the distinctive noise of EVOLUTION HAPPENING, and he looks up with an almost startled expression. Quickly followed by one of vague annoyance. Chimera would wait until Envy actually asked to get around to it, wouldn't he?] …Never mind.

[The camera turns to catch the tail end of the evolution, and when the light fades away…]



…What. [Okay, pokedex checking time because what. Envy had expected more along the lines of a bigger dinosaur the way his Ekans had just turned into a bigger and fancier snake, which would make sense. But a rock cocoon thing?] Pupitar? Larvitar and Pupitar. What's he going to turn into next, some kind of butterfly?

[Envy looks just as incredulous. What the hell, Pokemon. Chimera just looks happily oblivious to the confusion as usual.]

Yeah, a pinecone with legs. [Which Envy hadn't noticed until just now when Chimera started walking towards him. It's...really kind of creepy.]

Only a couple of mine have evolved. I figure the rest of them just... won't or something.

[She hadn't looked into their evolved forms too much... though she'd seen what Cujo would be if he managed to get his slobbery jowls onto a Fire Stone. She wasn't sure she relished the idea of having a dog the size of an SUV.]

Uh... maybe.

Was Larvitar that thing that attacked my face back around Christmas?

It sure didn't look like a caterpillar to me.

Yeah, that'd be the one. Least he might not be able to do that so easy now?

I didn't think he looked like a caterpillar either. I thought he'd turn into a bigger lizard or something. I don't know why else he'd turn into a cocoon though, and the names all seem to be weird puns.

...But if he knew he was gonna turn into that thing, no wonder it took him so long to get around to it. [Envy would not want to turn into a creepy armless pinecone either.]

A troll. Like this, but I had grey skin, the white parts of my eyes were yellow, my teeth were all fangy, and I had a pair of horns.

Point is, your cocoon thing there could turn into some sort of dragon for all I know.

Well, I can't say that I know what he'll evolve into next, but we can't be sure if it's a butterfly, aru. Pokemon do tend to surprise us when they evolve, after all.

Take Lien-Hua for example. She was just this little red fish at first, but now she's a huge sea dragon, aru.
